Free Trial Classes: Turn a Curious Newcomer into a Name on the Roster
FencR's free trial lets anyone book one free class at your club in a couple of minutes: they fill in a short form you build like a Google Form, pick a time from the practices you choose, and they are booked. Parents can bring up to six children in one go, and every request lands on your Free Trial page with its status updating itself from your schedule. Free for every club, like all of FencR.
A newcomer's first question is almost always the same: "Can I just come try it?" At most clubs the answer turns into an email thread, a few suggested days, a front desk that never heard about it, and a coach who meets a stranger at 6pm.
FencR's free trial turns that question into a booked class. The newcomer fills in a short form, picks a time from the practices you choose, and they are on the roster before anyone on your staff has opened their inbox. Free Trial takes the place of Leads & Pipelines: one setup, the same experience from every door.
Set it up once
Open Free Trial in the sidebar and choose Setup (the same screen lives under Club Settings > Free trial).
- Switch it on first. Flip Offer a free trial class. People can book as soon as at least one practice is added.
- Pick what people can try. Add a practice searches every upcoming practice, recurring series included, so it stays quick at a club running dozens a week. Create a new practice opens the same Add to Schedule window your schedule uses.
- Share it everywhere. Copy your trial link, show a Try a free class button on your public club page, and add the Try Fencing button to your own website.
A form you build like a Google Form
Under What do you want to know?, name and email are always asked. Everything else is a question card:
- Click a card to edit it. Change the wording, the type (Short answer, Multiple choice, or Yes or No), and the options, and switch Required on or off.
- Reorder, duplicate, delete. Each card has move, duplicate, and delete controls, and Add question adds a fresh one.
- Suggested questions. Phone number, age, fencing experience, and which weapon interests them are one click each under Suggested.
- Preview. See the form exactly as a newcomer does, and fill it in yourself.
Built for families
Add Who is this for? and the form adapts. A parent who picks My child is asked each child's first name and age, nested right under the question, with room for up to six children. Picking Me asks for the person's own age instead.
When they choose a time, the children named on the form are the attendees: one tap books the class for all of them, and the confirmation lists each child.
A parent fills in the form for their twins over breakfast, taps the 10am beginner class, and both are booked. By the time the twins walk in, they are on the coach's roster, and the first thing they hear is their own names.
Session cards that answer the obvious questions
Every time slot shows the day and start to end time, the venue with its full address and a Directions link, and the coaches teaching it with their photos. If your trial practices run at more than one location, newcomers can filter by venue so they pick the one closest to home.
Every request in one place
The Free Trial page holds everyone who asked. Statuses update themselves from your schedule: booking a class sets Booked, the roll call sets Came or Missed, and adding them to the club sets Joined. Each person shows one obvious next step, like Invite to join after their class.
Want to see it from the other side? Try it yourself runs the real flow with nothing booked and no spot taken, and the result lands on the Free Trial page with a Test chip.
Where to find it
If your club is on FencR, open Free Trial in the sidebar and choose Setup: the switch is at the top. New to FencR? Creating a club takes about fifteen minutes, and the free trial is ready the moment your first practice is on the schedule. For everything else in this release, read the FencR 3.0 overview.
